Will The parent pass the disease or the gene to the kid? will the kid most likely going to have the autoimmune diseasewhen the kid gets older? what is the possibility that the kid will get that gene and may be triggered in their life for autoimmune disease or may never happen?
Chosen Answer:
If I knew my baby would ultimately be born with a disease that would make them suffer – I would abort the pregnancy but that’s just me.

I don’t think it’s morally wrong, no. Personally I believe it would be more wrong to kill the babies’ chance of living through abortion than to actually give it the chance to have life. My mother has Systemic Lupus Erythematosis and my father suffers from a Cardiovascular disease. When I was born, I was two months premature, 10 inches tall, weighed 2lb 6oz and the doctors said I wouldn’t last the night.
I’m now 5ft 7″ tall, perfectly healthy and I’m celebrating my 16th birthday in seven days :]
The possibility of the child having the disease can never be certain, so there are some chances it will have one/the other/both diseases, but then there are the odds that it won’t, but surely it is always better to at least give the child a fighting chance at life? :]

I don’t think that would be immoral. Pretty much everyone has the genes for some sort of hereditary disease or condition. Just having the genes for something does not mean it will necessarily happen to a person. A person’s life is more important than a disease. Some of the most influential people in history had hereditary conditions. That doesn’t mean they should not have been born, or they were less valuable people. What matters in life is what we do with the time we’re here…not how healthy we are.

I think you could argue that point better if you were talking about something like HIV virus or other diseases or conditions that have a MUCH higher (almost positive) potential of being passed on to the children. But in general it is FAST being found that most people’s health issues ARE “genetically” linked…even mental illness. So using this “thought process” would pretty much eliminate ALL children being born! Always remember that there are just as many scientific theories that DO NOT “come to pass” as there are ones that DO! Things that are NOT suppose to happen in the realm of science HAPPEN MORE THAN ONCE somewhere in the world every day. We are driven as a species to “want to pro-create.” It is part of having a healthy happy existance. And there is a saying that is quite true unfortunately for ALL of us…that is that “We will never get out of this world alive.” Everyone dies of SOMETHING. And chances are, that SOMETHING was at least partially “handed down” in the family.
As a last comment…proceed with “caution” on the mental path of “pursuing perfection.” We will NEVER attain that in this world. And I am disturbed at a growing trend of young people who are buying into this “failed thought” that we must PERFECT others, their lives and the way they live. Leave the perfection of others to God and concentrate really hard on “perfecting” your “own back yard.” This type of thought process comes TOO CLOSE to promoting “judgmentalism” and we are on a wrong path when we can so easily see the fault of others with little compassion for the “humanistic part” of the equation. Forgive me if my words sound a little harsh….but I am ONE PERSON seriously concerned about our American Governmental course right now and the governments PUSH toward a “perfect society” because it sounds WAY too much like something our world has heard before…the rantings of Adolf Hitler when he promoted the “master race” initiative that tore away millions of innocent lives. The German people were just like us….good and “blinded” by some sort of EVIL that came over them when they heard Hitler SPEAK and with a bit of FEAR thrown in, they actually began to BELIEVE what his insane mind said. SUDDENLY it was “okay” to kill people because their hair color and eye color was not BLONDE and BLUE. Don’t ever forget that IT CAN HAPPEN AGAIN…we must pray and watch carefully that we don’t fall into the “simular mindset” of thinking it OUR PLACE to “create within our mind” who or what the “perfect family, person or world” should be and most especially to take the NEXT STEP of thinking it LOGICAL or MORAL to take steps to FORCE THAT IDEAL or INSANITY on others.
Blessings to You,
